MERCER, PA  [Camp Nazareth] -- Metropolitan Gregory has  announced plans for the 2021 Diocesan Camping Program at  Camp Nazareth in an archpastoral letter dated February 19, 2021.   The text of the letter is as follows:

Our Camping Season at Camp Nazareth is just around the corner, so to speak. We are looking forward to the Summer and are hopeful that we will be able to proceed with our in-person Camping Program.

The Camp Staff is preparing for a Summer AT Camp. However, while we are planning for in-person Summer Cap right now, we also continue to assess whether or not in-person Summer Camp can and should occur as it has in the past. The answer to that will take work, time and study. I am grateful that year-after-year you entrust the Camp with the care of your children. We take that trust seriously. Camp 2021 will be no exception.

Camp Nazareth will be offering our campers a 2020 Summer Camp Experience in lieu of being able to be in-person at Camp.  The Summer Camp Experience will offer each camper a personalized care package delivered to their home, the opportunity to get together online with their Camp Family and Friends, the ability to engage in “live” groups discussions and cabin time with their fellow campers, attend services, enjoy crafts and games, hear stories and sermons, watch videos, learn about our Faith, and much more.

2020 Camp Nazareth Wish List
Monday, January 13, 2020

Our Diocesan Sobor took place in October 2019 in Johnstown and an article about it has come and gone in The Church Messenger.  Our Diocese has moved onto other things.  Our parishes have celebrated Christmas and Theophany.  However, we wanted to share with you at least one part of the Diocesan Sobor that continues to have an impact at Camp Nazareth.

Before the Diocesan Sobor, the Camp decided to put together a Wish List for 2020; simply a list of needed items with a price tag on each.  The concept of the Wish List is not new.  Many different organizations publish an annual Wish List asking their constituency to sponsor one or more of the items.

Our Diocese is pleased to announce its eighth annual Family Camp at Camp Nazareth this year in conjunction with Family Day. The event is exactly what it sounds like. Families “camping” together in the Camp cabins and participating in a weekend of services, games, discussions, activities and challenges that are all designed to help families deepen their relationship with God and with one another.

This year’s theme – “God as Head of Family and Household”. Keeping God at the center of Daily Family Life seems to get more and more difficult these days. Come and learn ways to keep God as the Head of Your Family and Household. The weekend will feature keynote addresses and presentations by Fr. Jonathan Tobias.

MERCER, PA -- Just after the New Year, Camp Nazareth received a tremendous amount of equipment to make its Annual Science and Nature Camp an even better experience for those who will attend in 2018 and in the years to come. A total of 49 new microscopes were received. These included 24 compound microscopes, 24 dissecting microscopes and 1 Clinical Laboratory Microscope (an oil immersion scope). In addition, the Camp also received 2 digital eyepieces with USB cables, 24 prepared slide sets and 10 binoculars for the outdoors. New Multi-Purpose Facility Completed!
Tuesday, January 16, 2018

With God’s help in everything and at every step, Camp Nazareth completed the building of a new multi-purpose structure in late November. The structure “sits” between Cabins A & B and Cabins 1 & 2. The structure (affectionately known as “The Ark”) is roughly 2300 square feet and includes a large meeting space, 2 bathrooms, 2 showers, a front porch, a vaulted ceiling and laundry facilities. It will be used in different ways, depending on the needs of the Camp and its user groups. It can be used as a speaking venue or an activity area (rainy days, movies, exercise, etc.). It can also be used as a cabin for Staff if the needs of the user group call for it (which has been the case for several years now). The Ark provides the Camp with a great deal of flexibility and will be especially helpful for groups that often use the Lodge for both meals and their activities. We are grateful to God for everything and ask that we would always use what He has given us in a way that glorifies Him. “The Ark” will be blessed and dedicated at our Diocesan Clergy Retreat in April.
